Cold Comfort Farm

After the novel of the same name (oh and a movie as well), this farm greets as you enter the township and from the first time I saw it I have called it Cold Comfort Farm. Watch out for the wood shed!

no horsing around in winter

These are American Cream draft horses who live down the road across from the cornfield. I want to give them blankets!

A note about the area:
It is called Michiana by us locals and is an easily accessible getaway spot for people from Chicago and South Bend. In fact growing up in South Bend, this is where we came for weekend fun -- a picnic along a tree-lined road or at a Lake Michigan beach. Now people come from all over the country to the many retreat centers for which Fabius is somewhat famous: St. Gregory's Abbey, the Fetzer Institute's Gilchrist, the Mennonite Hermitage, Apple Farm, and the Sound Peace Chamber inspired by Joseph Riel.
