Just a week ago

Sunrise over Lake Superior's AuTrain Bay last Friday as we prepared to head south at the end of a week in our favorite part of Michigan, the Upper Peninsula.  It was the last day with pasties for lunch and no more whitefish at every supper for another year!

Please find more skies from around the world at Skywatch Friday.

AuTrain in the rain

Since the rain is keeping us inside again today, let me show you a moody view of AuTrain Island on this cold and windy day.  The moods of Superior are always spectacular!

Dedicated to the truly serious among us

This is Scott's Falls at the west end of the AuTrain Bay, but I do not know the name of the intrepid photographer who is risking limbs, no doubt, and perhaps his camera by wading in.   We have not often seen this falls with water, but this September it was filled and flowing with water, and a photographer.

M28 Bridge over the AuTrain River

We are in the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan for this Sunday's Bridge for M. Louis LaVache and other bridge friends.  The AuTrain River's journey to Lake Superior is almost finished.  Here M28, the road between Sault St. Marie and Wakefield, crosses the river as it begins to flow through the glorious white sand beach of AuTrain Bay.

For bridges from all over the world, please visit Louis and friends at Sunday Bridges.

Sun and Clouds over the Islands

There is nothing like the cloud formations that roam Lake Superior!  And we had a perfect spot on Shelter Bay for watching them morning and night.  It is early evening and you can see the sun piercing the clouds and lighting up portions of AuTrain Island, Grand Island, and the east arm of AuTrain Bay (Shelter Bay is the small "sub-bay" at the west arm of AuTrain Bay).
