A new year's wish

May the new year bring you sun-filled days with a seat in the shade!
This sun-filled day was six months ago and on Lake Michigan about fifty miles due west as the crow flies from Fabius.

I hope these photos give you a picture of life in rural Southwest Michigan -- its small towns, farms, lakes and woods. A note about the area:
It is called Michiana by us locals and is an easily accessible getaway spot for people from Chicago and South Bend. In fact growing up in South Bend, this is where we came for weekend fun -- a picnic along a tree-lined road or at a Lake Michigan beach. Now people come from all over the country to the many retreat centers for which Fabius is somewhat famous: St. Gregory's Abbey, the Fetzer Institute's Gilchrist, the Mennonite Hermitage, Apple Farm, and the Sound Peace Chamber inspired by Joseph Riel.
