Too cold to sit in the hut but the view through two of the hut's windows is worth a glance.

I hope these photos give you a picture of life in rural Southwest Michigan -- its small towns, farms, lakes and woods. Just click on any photo to enlarge it, and, oh, see some turkeys or horses or cornstalks...., but also see the beauty of this land and water. So please join me in this daily journey.

A note about the area:
It is called Michiana by us locals and is an easily accessible getaway spot for people from Chicago and South Bend. In fact growing up in South Bend, this is where we came for weekend fun -- a picnic along a tree-lined road or at a Lake Michigan beach. Now people come from all over the country to the many retreat centers for which Fabius is somewhat famous: St. Gregory's Abbey, the Fetzer Institute's Gilchrist, the Mennonite Hermitage, Apple Farm, and the Sound Peace Chamber inspired by Joseph Riel.
