Sun and shadow

Our card table in the nook is warmed by the sun and wood of the bright light of a February day in winter.   My cousin Tom rescued this old cherry table at least 25 years ago and restored it to its present beauty.  It began its second life as a card table in my parents' living room.  That tradition continues with cribbage, canasta, and Russian Bank mornings after breakfast.  Retirement is a tough life.

  1. Through the window I see the snow, but inside it looks warm and cozy!

Shadows may or may not be
    Patterns of urbanity.
    If a shadow threatens you,
Here, my dear, is what to do:
Grab the shadow by the throat,
Toss it to a billy goat,
So the goat can chomp and chew,
    Keeping it away from you!

  2. Ooooh it does sound like a tough life ;) I don't know many card games but I do like playing snap! A lovely photo and thanks so much for joining in Shadow Shot Sunday!

  3. The table is beautiful, and it looks like a wonderful place to enjoy winter sunshine!
    I love your header!

  4. Thank you all for coming by the shadows on the card table!
Hey Harriet, after reading your wonderful interview, doubt you have time for cards!
Dimple, thank you and would you believe that we are reading the The Lord of the Rings out loud this winter?!
